Week 1 - Day 5

 *Find out why organic, unrefined coconut oil is good for you;
how carob powder is different from cocoa powder;
why almonds, in Hebrew, is translated "Gift from God";
and why the Bible mentions honey 62 times in the Bible...
by reading today's lesson in the Healthy Home Ec book.

Gather your ingredients for making Coconut Almond Fudge.

Coconut Oil
I didn't have carob powder when I made these, so I used cocoa powder.  Today's lesson will explain the difference.  You can use either ingredient.

Stir after adding each ingredient.

Almond Butter  (raw is best)

Simmer the water on the stovetop.

Spread butter over the parchment paper to keep the fudge from sticking.

Refrigerate or freeze as directed in the
Healthy Home Ec book.

The Finished Product

Enjoy this special, sweet treat!
Have a blessed day, dear friend.

Week 1 - Day 4

*Living bodies need ???  ??? to stay alive?  What percent of our food should this be?
Find the answer to these questions in the Healthy Home Ec book on page 21.

Welcome back, friend.  Today we'll be making mini-pizzas.  What is fun about these is that everyone can make their own using the exact ingredients they want.  The more fresh vegetables you use, the healthier the pizza will be.  Today's lesson beginning on page 27 will explain the procedure.

artichoke hearts

 Each person can make their own pizza just the way they like it.

Read why shredding your own cheese is a better choice than purchasing pre-shredded. You can use an electric food processor or a manual shredder.

Follow the baking directions in the Healthy Home Ec book.

I added some feta cheese and preservative-free black olives to this one.

Have fun! See you in the next lesson.

Week 1 - Day 3

*The Bible mentions foods that God created for us, and foods we should avoid.  Find out what they are in the Healthy Home Ec book, beginning on page 19.

Hello again! It's time to gather the ingredients and supplies listed in your Healthy Home Ec book. Not all of the ingredients are shown in these pictures, so make sure you read the entire lesson. Use these pictures as a companion guide to the book.

You can use fresh or dried spices in this soup.  I use fresh if they are in season;
otherwise, dried works fine.

BASIL

Make sure you read the lesson book for further information.

The finished product!

You can drizzle a little of the cream over the top of the soup, or not.  This is optional.  You could also add some fresh basil on the top for a garnish.

Serve hot with whole grain crackers or fresh whole grain bread and a green salad.

Enjoy!

See you in the next lesson!
