Week 8 - Day 2

*To find out more about what each one of these ingredients does for your body,
preview pages 116-120 in the Healthy Home Ec book.

Welcome back, friend!  It's good to be with you again!
Gather your supplies and ingredients for today's delicious and nutritious Sunrise Smoothie.

Wash and de-stem the strawberries.

Cut the mango by cutting around the large center pit.

Remove the skins.

Cut into smaller pieces, then add to the blender.

Cut the pineapple by removing the top.

Then slice off one wedge.

Cut in half.

Remove the outer rind.

Quarter the pieces, then add to the blender.

Slice and juice the orange.
Using fresh squeezed orange juice will keep all the living enzymes
that can be lost during pasteurization.

Add the juice to the blender.

Add the correct measurement of flaxseed.

Cut the watermelon and add the correct amount to the blender.

Check to see if all the ingredients listed in your book have been added
in the correct measurements.

Blend, starting on low and advancing to high.

I used all fresh fruits, except my homegrown raspberries that I froze when they were in season.
Add ice if using all fresh fruits.
Ice can be eliminated if frozen fruit was used.

Pour into glasses and serve.

Have a wonderful day!
See you in the next lesson.

"From the rising of the sun
to its setting,
the name of the LORD is to be praised!"
(Psalm 113:3)

How to cut a watermelon:

(We grow watermelons in our garden, but ours contain black seeds.)

When we lived in Florida, we planted and grew our own pineapples.

The pineapple starts off as a beautiful flower that then turns into the fruit.
