Week 2 - Day 2

*Today's recipe can be made with either dates or figs.  Learn the health benefits of these in the Healthy Home Ec book.

Hello again, dear friend.  It's time to make granola.  The aroma that this recipe makes as it bakes is amazing.  This breakfast meal goes great with a cup of hot herbal tea.  Enjoy.

Get all your ingredients and supplies ready.  I used dates, almonds, raw sunflower seeds, and raw pumpkin seeds in this granola recipe.  You could also use figs or raisins, or another variety of dried fruit if it does not contain preservatives.

Review all the ingredients and measurements in the Healthy Home Ec book.
I used fresh milled spelt today, but you could also use red wheat flour.

Melt the butter in a small saucepan, or in the microwave in a glass measuring cup covered with a paper towel for about 15-20 seconds.

Mix together the butter, raw honey, milled flour, pure vanilla, and cinnamon.

You can buy pre-chopped almonds; but if you have a food processor, you can save money by buying whole almonds and chopping them yourself.

Add the remaining ingredients.

Press into the baking dish using a piece of wax paper, or with the back of a wooden spoon.

Bake as directed in the Healthy Home Ec book.

Remove from oven, and let cool as directed.

The finished product.
After a few hours, you can crumble the mixture, put it in an airtight container, and keep it in the refrigerator to eat as a whole grain granola cereal.

Psalm 25: 4-5 "Make me to know thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.  Lead me in thy truth, and teach me, for thou art the God of my salvation; for thee I wait all the day long."
