Week 4 - Day 5

*Do you know:
~what makes the saying true, that "an apple a day keeps the doctor away?"
~what God's Word tells us about apples that should remind us of His love for us?

Find out in the Healthy Home Ec book on page 64.

I didn't get any apples on my trees last year because of a late spring frost,
but this year my tree is loaded with apples!
The branches are bending down and touching the ground!
So it's time to make apple crisp!

Fill a bowl with cold water.
Squeeze half a lemon, or use the left-over lemon juice from week 4 day3
and add it to the water.
The acidity will help prevent the peeled apples from turning brown.

Get your supplies and other ingredients ready.

Peel the apples.

Place the peeled apples in the lemon water until they are all ready.

In another bowl, combine the remaining ingredients as described in the Healthy Home Ec book.
Be sure to check measurements and amounts.
(You can always leave out nuts if anyone in your family is allergic to them.
If you purchased whole nuts, you can chop them in a strong blender or food processor.)

Drain the apples.

Arrange apples in the baking dish.

Add the topping.

Bake as directed.

The finished product:

Serve by itself, or with all natural Vanilla Bean ice cream (without preservatives).

"Keep me as the apple of Your eye..."  Ps.17:8

See you in the next lesson!
