Week 13 - Day 2

*"Wisdom is with the aged (ancient),
and understanding in length of days."
(Job 12:12)

*"As I looked, thrones were placed
and One that was Ancient of Days took his seat;
his raiment (clothing) was white as snow,
and the hair of his head like pure wool;
... a thousand thousands served him,
and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him;
the court sat in judgement,
and the books were opened."
(Daniel 7:9-10)

In our society today, many young people do not offer the proper respect for the elderly.
Some elderly are even viewed as a burden to our society.
But it was never like this in years past.
God has told us that the elderly have wisdom and understanding that can benefit the younger generation
if they seek it.
Do you know of someone elderly who could be a godly mentor to you?

The Daniel verse above also reminds us that God, who always was and always will be,
who is ancient,
will one day judge this world.
If we are his children, our names our written in the Lamb's book of life.
(See also Revelation 20:11-15)
If we are not God's children, our names will not be written in the Lamb's book of life,
and on Judgement Day,
those people will not inherit the world and reign forever with Christ,
but will inherit God's wrath.
If you are not sure if you are God's child, ask Him today to "adopt" you into His family-
to make you His own.
Repent and turn from your sins, asking God to help you, and He will do it.

Today might be the easiest lesson of this curriculum.
Gather your supplies and ingredients.

You can use any yogurt brand, or make your own (directions on page 175).
 I found this Greek Yogurt made with honey that I really enjoy (review page 22).
I also really like this organic granola, made with ancient grains.
It contains organic grains such as rolled oats
spelt (an early form of wheat with high amounts of
iron, amino acids, and fiber),
Kamut Khorasan wheat (mentioned on page 58 of the Healthy Home Ec book),
Amaranth (a traditional grain in Africa, India, and Central America that is
a good source of dietary fiber and minerals),
and Quinoa (review page 60 of the Healthy Home Ec book).
It also contains almonds (mentioned on page 31 in the Healthy Home Ec book).

Wash the fruit.
Remove the stems from the strawberries.

Slice the strawberries, and mix the fruit together in a bowl.

Layer the yogurt and the fruit.

Top with a quality granola.
(It could also be the granola you learned to make on page 35!)

A healthful breakfast that contains protein from the yogurt
for muscle and bone growth and function;
vitamins and minerals from the fruit
for overall optimal function, and to help hair and skin;
and high quality carbohydrates from the granola
for energy and ability to focus.

See you in the next lesson!

You could also use other fruit in this recipe such as blackberries or raspberries.
